What's all involved in getting tested for pregnancy and for STDs?

I’ve heard that they check your genitals and your butt for STDs and that they take blood for pregnancy but then I’ve heard that they don’t have to do that.

Answer #1

They take samples of your DNA whether its blood or saliva for STDs. When it comes to pregnancy I think they put the gel on your stomach to see if you have a little one inside of you.

Answer #2

They can check pregnancy using pee.

Ok, so from what I’ve read, gonorrhea and chlamydia can be checked either through a urine test or through a swab inside the pen.is in men or from the inside of the cervix in women. Syphilis can be tested by taking a blood sample or a swab from any genital sores you might have. HIV and hepatitis A and B are all blood tests. Herpes can be tested by scraping sores or blisters or a blood test. HPV is a pap test. So it looks like they dont have to do that? But you want to talk to your doctor.

Answer #3

An ultrasound is not usually used to detect pregnancy, at least it’s not the first thing they do.

Answer #4

Hmm you’re 24. You’re going to have to get over your fear of the gynecologist. Especially if you’re sexually active.
