Which insect species would you get rid of?

Mosquitos kill millions of people… While flies are annoying, I’m going with mosquitos…

i hate spiders but we actually need them, but id say flys because i think if flys disappeared from the planet the world would be a better place, cancer would be cured, aids would vanish, and world hunger would cease!!!!!!

Moquitos, they bite and the bites itch and they annoy me. I can’t stand the things. Plus the buzzing in my ears keeps me awake at night, plus some of them carry Malaria and I don’t like drinking the Malaria pills when I am on holiday…..etc.etc.etc.

I would like to say spiders as I am terrible frightened on them… But I can see that causing a few problems. So I also am going with mosquitos

[1] Mosquito’s. They kill, and aggravate people. They are the only insect that I can think of that doesn’t really need to be here, and that is causing trouble.

[2] Bee’s, and spiders would be my next two, just because I’m scared of them. However, I know that they are helpful to the earth. So, if they were gone, a lot would change.

[3] Flies would be my fourth choice, they don’t really harm anyone. They are just nasty, and annoying.

None. They all have a specific niche in the eco system, no matter ow annoying they seem to us. Getting rid of them could have effects that we would have never even thought of.

I agree with this, however, I would like to add that I would get rid of the version of them that are highly dangerious. For example, if you got rid of all the spiders you would be over run by millions of other lesser insects they eat. So I would simple like to get rid of the ones that are deadly like Black Widows. They stay around and keep their purpose, but there is no reason they need to be able to harm/kill people.

:( Black widows have such a bad rep. They are not nearly as deadly as people think. Their bites can cause some severe discomfort, but usually death is not a result. I’m a firm believer that every organism has its purpose. If no more than disease vectors for population control. Don’t get me wrong, I HATE mosquitoes and am scared to death of spiders, but as much as I hate them I wouldn’t get rid of them all together. It kind of sucks on our end, but I’m a firm believer that many more people die at the hands of other people than at the hands of poisonous insects. I do like your idea though :D

I actually don’t think any animal should be killed because of their discomfort to humans. If we kill off certain insects, we should kill of certain humans too, because it is us that is inhabiting their world just as much as them inhabiting us. But if we have to I still vote for mosquitos. :P
