Industrial Piercing Questions
Hi! =]
Right now I have both ears pierced once, with the right ear also having a cartlidge piercing. I’m getting an industrial piercing tomorrow (so just adding one piercing on the frontal cartlidge) and I’m curious about a few aspects of the procedure (I’m from St. Louis btw):
- Pain? (scale of 1 - 10)
- What is the gauge usually? (I have standard 16 gauges for all of my piercings at the moment)
- Infection/rejection risk?
- What questions should I ask the piercer?
- Which method is better - gun or needle?
- Cost (since it’ll just be one frontal cartlidge piercing + the barbell or w/e they use)
- Which is better for healing - captive bead ring or a straight barbell?
- How long does it take to heal?
- Any special after care tips I should know?
- (if you’re from Saint Louis) Any particular place you would recommend? I’m looking at the Iron Age Studios in the Loop.
It is very painfulll!!!…I got an industrial piercing 4 months ago and it still hurts me, when I touch it and clean it. I would not recomend it to anybody… its very painful when you first get it and the risk for infection is very high…
1-4; it just stings when they put the needle in 2-I think its 14 or 16 3-not very high; mines doin greay so far 4-how to breathe durin the piercing 5-needle 6-mine was 50 7-straight barbell 8-can take up to a year for fully healing 9-clean 2-3 times a day and make sure you twist the ring so it don’t grow to it 10-im not from st. louis lol
The piercings themselves are made with a sterile hollow piercing needle, usually 14g, and the barbell jewelry is worn during the healing period. Sometimes, a pair of captive bead rings (CBRs) are used instead, and are exchanged for a barbell after healing is complete. Although the use of CBRs often results in faster healing, proper alignment of the piercings is difficult when this technique is used. It can be pierced with a flexible plastic tube and swapped for the metal bar when its healed. Industrials typically take anywhere from three months to one year to fully heal completely
Definitely have a piercer who uses a needle - piercing guns are awful for many reasons which I will not get into right now. Real piercers use needles.
yeaa and needles are safer
Needle feels better for piercings anywhere.
