Can anyone help me with how I can look indie at school?

My uniform is a White shirt, black v neck jumper, trousers ( I also have shorts), military boots ( I also have black pumps and rocket dogs that look like comics), tie and a rucksack. I am already sort of indie but just need a few pointers on how to do it at school. Only sensible comments will be appreciated. Thanks for the help!!

First of all, I’m not sure if you mean, “indie,” as in a certain style, or “indie,” as in “individual,” but every school is different when it comes to uniform and how strictly you have to follow it. If you’re allowed to wear different ties, I’d suggest that, either extra thin ones, or ones with different designs. I’m not sure how into that you’d be, as a girl, but they look pretty good if you keep them a little loose. It’d look good with a little, but be light on the makeup not to overpower the uniform. When you’re in the jumper, depending on its length, or the shorts, are you required to wear knee-high socks? You could switch those out for tights, they way they do in uniform schools here, mine included. Pins for your backpack. When you wear the jumper, you could find a somewhat bulky necklace that suits you, one longer than the V if you have to wear the tie with it, and you could always wear a cute pin on the left side of your jumper or your shirt. Nail polish and hair styles are huge tells of personality in my school.

I would say to wear cute beaded or braided braclets and necklaces. And you could find cute braided head bands to put around your forehead. Uhm. Do your hair I. Some cute indie styles. With the braids, twists, etc. If your not sure how many indie hairstyles there are or wanting to change it up. You can always get on YouTube and type in indie hairstyle tutorials. I hope this helps. =]

Indie as in individual?

Read your schools dress code. Will it permit colored hair? If so you could maybe get a strand of hair in another color, like a blond strand in black hair or a red strand in blond hair. Some contrast to your natural color. Or if it admits unnatural colors also in blue, green or pink. Whatever you like.

Use accessories like a watch, ear rings, finger rings, a necklace, a hat or a brooch. Maybe you can add something completely weird to your style? Like an anachronistic pocket watch on a chain. Or a similar thing.

You can try for dreads, or colored extensions. Also purchase a few pairs of flats. They should have patterns like plaid or polka dots, or be brightly colored.

-One or two vintage dresses.

-Brightly colored tights and leggings

-Plaid. Lots of plaid shirts.

-Tshirts with artistic pictures on them. However, they should not be from brands like billabong or roxy. Brand names aren’t indie.

-Cardigan sweaters

-Tops that have patterns. Loud patterns. Again, go with the bright colors.

-Vintage jewelry. Not the big plastic emo beads from claire’s either.

-Scarves. Add a scarf to any outfit for an instantly indie feel. Patterned scarves are even better

-A messenger bag.

-Funky hats, belts and purses. Suspenders get you extra points.

-Leg Warmers

DONT’s for the indie girl wardrobe include:

-Studs and spikes

-Dark colors. They are okay in small doses, but your outfit should not be all black, or mostly black. This again, is associated with emo.

-Hot pink and lime green.

-Brand names. No article of your clothing should have an a brand name plastered on it.
