In a loveless marriage and found happiness

I am in a loveless marriage. I am on my second marriage and when we married it wasn’t for love. We married to try to make a home for our son we had out of wedlock. That is a story of its own. We have been married since June of 02. We really haven’t had a marriage. He always finds jobs that are far away to work on. The farthest was overseas. The past few weeks I have reconnected with my high school sweetheart. Its been great. I feel like this is what I have been searching far for the past 22 years. I am now 38. Its just hard taking that initial step to end the marriage. First it being I started a business and my income is limited, second being the children. They are 7 and 9. That is a vulnerable age but I feel like they are well adjusted children. I am hoping that there is someone else in my situation that can help ease some light on the subject.

Cajun, I understand where you are coming from because I too made the exact same choice as you did, which at that time I thought I was doing the right thing for my child. But 7 years later, my heart is still not where it should be for my wife and I sometimes wonder if it ever will be? However, I must add, for the most part, we do get along okay,…Kinda like good roommates.

As for you, since this “may be” your 3rd round, I would really give it some thought before making this jump. Because there still is a lot at stake here. Talk about this with a trusted, close friend who really knows you because even though you feel your kids are well adjusted, they’ll internalize their emotions and keep it all inside especially if “they are happy” in their current home environment. I understand that you want to feel happy and finally be apart of a “equally loving” relationship, but the kids are the ones who usually take one for the team! Good luck with what ever you decide!
