is it illegal to sell a car with a cracked frame?

Answer #1

Used vehicles come with a “buyer beware” clause.

If you purchased a used vehicle, you purchase it “as is”, without any warranty. Since the lemon law doesn’t apply to used vehicles, anyone who finds themselves in possession of a vehicle that was sold to them under false pretenses is pretty much stuck.

Yes, this can be taken to court in a civil suit, but you have to ask yourself if the court fees are worth what you paid for the car.

At any rate, nobody should ever buy a used vehicle without first having it thoroughly inspected.

Answer #2

We did find out it isn’t legal to do that, well where I am anyways. We called the Attorney General and the car lot was forced to either fix the vehicle or give a refund. This is how long it has taken to get the issue resolved, you see how long ago I asked about this, the vehicle got fixed 2 days ago. Seems like it was forever :-/
