my cousin ally still wants to buy toys and stuff and shes 13 I asked her why and she said its because she is growing up too fast and dosent want to grow up but wants too grow down back too like 7 is this normal I mean she would rather sit indoors and play than go out with her m8s is this normal???

Answer #1

When the time is right for her - she’ll step out.

Answer #2

Yes, it’s normal. Your cousin is probably one of the sane kids who want to enjoy her childhood for as long as she can. She’s only thirteen - she still has about eight years to go out with her friends. I mean, m8s. I wouldn’t worry about it

Toys are fun. I still buy toys. I’m like the (slightly) saner version of Michael Jackson. Don’t be ignorant.

Dear nanzice, She may have experienced some stress from some adults recently. Perhaps they were discussing responsibilities; mortgage, bills etc. Or perhaps she was told to grow up when dealing with a confusing situation, or pressured from a peer or asked to do something inappropriate by a male peer. There could be many reason for this and the only way to find out is to ask some probing questions. If she reveals something questionable seek out a trusted adult who can deal with it. Have you mentioned this to her mother? Might be a good idea. Sue…good luck

I think its very cute! I remember one of my teens doing something like this, he’d overheard someone talking about kids needing to enjoy being kids while it lasted. We’d also had a conversation about his needing to earn his own pocket money, so for him, it was a last fling with childhood. It was a priceless and heartwrenching moment, watching him scour job adds amidst a sea of fluffy bears :-)

I guess you would need to think more deeply on the matter if it lasts more than a few weeks.

Answer #5

I think that is good what she is doing. It is better to grow down than to grow up at this age. She could be out trying to talk to boys, sneaking out of the house, doing drugs or prostituting. I think I would rather deal with her the way she is. It could be worse.
