How to lose weight if I have a bad knee?

Okay, so I really am in need of some weight loss, but I have a really bad knee and am not supposed to exercise on it. I can walk, but running and squats and lunges make me feel like it’s ripping apart. I’m fully aware that in order to lose weight, it’s not just diet, but also exercise. But I can’t really do cardio, so how can I acheive weight loss if my exercise is limited? I don’t want to take the diet pill route, either, although if that’s a last choice and someone has good info on it, then I suppose that will be the route I take.

well you can exercise, simple ones. but as soon as you get tired, just stop, and continue when you feel better. if you can walk, then walk, at least half an hour a day. but take it slow, dont force urself, im sure you can do it, and EAT !! yes, do your diet, but EAT. at least 1500cal a day :D good luck !!

its really hard to lose weight without exercising cause you will have extra skin that sags off! (gross huh!!) so if you can you can get surgery, or just try to work out the knee problem with a doctor maybe he can give you some medicine or something!!

You’re not supposed to eat under 1.3k calories a day unless you’re morbidly obese, first of all. I am not morbidly obese. I just want to lose some weight. No, I’m not fat. But I’m not super thin, either. I’d like to be at least a little more than super thin.

why dont you just eat 1000 calories a day? its not the right amount you need everyday but ull lose weight and its not like anorexic

Hi,

A good way to exercise without hurting your knee is swimming, it also acts as good physio for your knee and tones almost all of your muscles at once.

If like me though, you don’t like the idea of stripping off until you’ve lost the weight, have a look to see if your local pool has any ‘ladies only’ times, its normally old ladies that go then, so no need to be shy.

Also, there are some beauty places that have toning beds or ‘gymophobics’, which are aimed at women who do not want to go the gym, or in your case can’t. These toning machines will do no harm to your knee at all and they only cost per session so no need to worry if you miss one.

Hope this was of some help, Good Luck and feel Beautiful soon,

I got hurt in the military and cant do much cardio. I’ve got a nerve disorder in my left leg. upper body workouts are still easy to do… pullups, sit ups, crunchs, push ups, and weight training machines work too. a bench press wont hurt that knee. ps my husband broke his knee 3 times in the army and broke a titanium pin and spring in it… his still fit as the day he was honorably discharged. its not impossible you just have to have the drive to do it. (he hasnt stopped eating less at all either! if you can walk or bike do as much as you can)
