How can I gain some weight?

I am 15 1/2, 5’ 4’ and weigh about 92 pounds. Im female of course and i cannot gain weight. I think i have high metabolism but i haven’t been diagnosed with it and i visit a pediatrician about 5 times a year honestly and she has never said anything to me about trying to gain weight! If anyone knows how i can gain weight healthily, other than scarfing myself with fattening foods because i have already done so, please message me ! thanks :)

Hi,

Here are five important rules to help you with your quest for gaining weight in a HEALTHY way.

  1. Eat consistently. Every day, have three hearty meals plus one to three additional snacks. Do NOT skip meals! You’ll miss out on important calories that you need to accomplish your goals.

  2. Eat larger than normal portions. Instead of having one sandwich for lunch, have two. Eat three potatoes at dinner, instead of only two. Have a taller glass of milk, bigger bowl of cereal, larger piece of fruit.

  3. Select higher calorie foods. Read food labels to determine which foods have more calories than an equally enjoyable counterpart. For example, cran-apple juice has more calories than does orange juice (170 vs 110 calories/8 ounces); granola has more calories than Cheerios (700 vs 100 calories/cup); corn more than green beans (140 vs 40 calories/cup).

  4. Drink lots of juice and milk. Beverages are a simple way to increase your caloric intake. Instead of drinking water, quench your thirst with calorie-containing fluids.

  5. Do strengthening exercises (weight lifting, push-ups) to stimulate muscular development so that you bulk-up instead of fatten up. Some underweight people are afraid exercise will result in weight loss rather than weight gain. If that’s your case, remember that exercise tends to stimulate the appetite; you’ll want to eat more. (Yes, exercise may temporarily ‘kill’ your appetite right after a hard workout, but within a few hours, you’ll get hungry.) Exercise also increases thirst; you’ll easily be able to drink extra juices.

Good luck!

Thanks for both of your help! I honestly don’t care about what people think of me anymore because in 8th grade, that was like h*ll! trying to fit in and everything is a waste of time and it isn’t honest so since the beginning of my 9th grade year, i just dropped trying to be who i wasn’t because it was too nerve wrecking. To tell you the truth i haven’t gained any friends in school nor have i lost any but I feel better about myself. And to tell you the truth was encouraged to be more myself was souliejolie. com. It’s the best angelina jolie web site and everyone there is their selves and they encourage you to be your self :) It is wonderful adn they try to get you to be who you are. i guess this was kind of a response to KorgPro but i still would love to take home school or almost drop out because i still hate it. Thanks to everyone who FunMailed me and who replied to this post! Thanks a whole, whole lot! :) :P

 Glory in what you have.
I am a male 40 years older than you - but trust me: at the point that all the women around you begin to pack on the pounds, you will stay slim.
I was a kid who was fat, all through high school. I hated my life, and I would have sold my soul to be able to drop the pounds. [I also had terminal acne]. But lo and behold - I went to college, got taller, but didn't gain weight. I ended up 6'2" - and weighing just about what I weighed in high school.
You will realize eventually that what you're living through in high school is a very SMALL part of your life. If my 40--year reunion is any indication, you will have the final vindication.
I used to hate that I was baby-faced. Lo and behold - when I got to the reunion, I looked younger than my classmates. I was also skinnier, and I had more hair [s].
I wouldn't have believed it, in high school - but I believe it now. Take heart -- Bob

You want to gain your weight you should eat more dairy products, fish and meat over bread. Choose more protein food like eggs, fruits and vegetables. •You should be eating at least 2,000 calories everyday… •Spreading delicious calorie-rich toppings on toast, pitas, and any other carbohydrate source is an excellent way to increase caloric intake. Some good high-calorie spreads are olive oil, cream cheese, butter, nut butters, cheese slices, and mayonnaise. Mix these with frayed meats like chicken or fish. •Try to drink protein shakes, juices or whole milk. •Wheat bread is more nutritious than white bread. Cut thick slices and spread with peanut butter, jam, honey, or cream cheese.
