I need to be more smart!!

So this year, I have to get really good marks in school! I am going into grade 9, and I have never gotten good marks. Any good methods?

try paying attention in class and studying for your tests

Answer #2

Well first of all dont pay attention to your previous performance, I used to be a pretty average student, and then when I got into the 9th grade, for some weird reason, my grades suddenly got better… So just because you got bad grades before, doesnt mean you will continue to get bad grades. And yeah, you may need to put in extra effort, do extra work, but it is possible. And try studying differently. It depends on how you learn best. Some people learn by writing stuff out, so read and summarize stuff. Some people learn by reading, so highlighting stuff works for them. Some people learn by listening, so pay attention in class and try maybe getting a recorder and recording your notes so you can play it over again. You get the idea…

Ok, first of all…don’t use gramatically incorrect phrases like “I need to be more smart!” - ah!

Study up on your English, which will instantly help you with things. Get something like the SAT ‘Word of the Day’ calendar - does amazing with developing a vocabulary! Anyway, you will want to be sure you pay close attention in class and take great notes (try researching online for tips on note-taking because you have to find a good fit). Learn how to take notes shorthand, so that you can write quickly and be able to identify what you have written.

Also, you need to be sure that you set apart a time and place to study each day. Make that a goal when you come home, and don’t let anything stand in the way. Study even when you don’t have homework. Something that I have always found helpful was to know the subjects for each class in great detail before you even cover it in class (this tip is something I learned through church actually :D ). Know it in great length and write any questions you may have. I was always the type of student who would finish the teacher’s sentences or be able to mimic her word-for-word. So, once you have done that - I guarantee your grades will skyrocket!

Best of luck!
