Why cant he accept that I like chatting to people?

I have been with my boyfrien ages and we now live together. We generally get on ok but when we go out for a drink it all changes. I’m quite a chatty person and he doesn’t really like to be sociable. If I speak to anyone he doesn’t know or approve of any jokes I make he snaps at me. its at the point where I feel like I cant talk to anoyone in case he doesnt like it or I say the wrong thing and it upsets him. When we get home the argumant gets worse and the other night he scared me - he was shouting that much in my face he was spitting and he was punching the couch. He says he loves me and only wants to protect me and I do believe him, but why does he just not accept I like chatting to people. What am I doing wrong??

He’s not overprotective. Overprotectiveness = he is worried for your health and safety. Controlling behavior = he’s worried about you doing something to him, like cheating on him. His primary concern is himself. You’re not doing anything wrong. And by continuing this cycle, you’re taking a glimpse at the rest of your life. Who is he going to stop you from talking to next, or from doing next? What’s he going to do the next time he’s mad at you? Hit you? You might want to evaluate your relationship, and consider some sort of couples counseling…

u anit doin any thing wrong bt it sounds like hes gettin jelouse and I think honstly hes over proective so when he gouse to have a go at you walk way or sitin on the sofa for a bit thenwen hes not gone out for a drink talk to him say sometimes he scares you and that he need to clam his tempure
