How to use mascara on long eyelashes?

I have long eyelashes and whenever I put mascara on they always criss cross and look all clumpy .. and by the end of the day they are all saggy and look really bad! please any advice??

Answer #1

What mascara are you using?

When I apply mascara, I apply it in a slight zig-zag motion - This ensures even coverage and this prevents my lashes from clumping together. So you could give that a try

You say your lashes are ‘all saggy’, what do mean by that? Is the mascara too heavy? I’ve never had that happen to me so I am not sure about that one.

It’s probably not your eyelashes, but maybe your mascara that is causing the problem. you can get Define-a-Lash by Maybelline for about 7 dollars at your local drug store, and it works really well in separating your eyelashes.

It sounds like you’re applying too many strokes of mascara. Try starting at the roots brushing toward the end with a few strokes instead. You’ll use less mascara this way so it won’t be too heavy, and it should keep them from sticking together. If they still stick, try buying an eyelash brush and use it to straighten them out after you apply your mascara. It works for me. Hope it works for you! ;P

Okay I have the same problem, my lashes are encredibly long and quite thick. When it seems like nothing works, I just put on clear gloss maskara and use a curler. Since we don’t need color, body, or length, that’s all you’ll ever need

Answer #5

I know what you mean, because I have long eyelashes too. I’ve tried a lot of mascaras, and some are better than others… but they all really have the same effect for me.

I would try looking up while your applying, BUT it is key to use a steady and straight hand while you CAREFULLY zig zag through your lashes. And once you get to the top of your lashes, slowly blink. This really helps make them even longer.

Good luck!

Jules - I have the same problem - what did you end up buying. My lashes are long, but not thick. AND they criss-cross, clump and stick together. The one product I accidentally liked was the Sheer Cover mascara, except it didn’t make them fuller. But I didn’t seem to have to use a mascara comb to separate (or a big safety pin that I have been using for the past xx years!!).

Jules- What did you end up using. I have the same problems - criss crossing, sicking together, stiff, clumpy. What’s a girl to do?? The one I accidentally hit upon was the sample I got from Sheer Cover - made them black, but no fullness. They didn’t sag or stick or clump, tho!!!
