I'm worried about my friend. Please help me!

Today my friend (I will call her Jannie) told myself and some of our friends that she tried to slit her wrist. I’ve also been informed by her that she has tried to do this before. She told me that her parents have been “annoying her”, but I know for a fact that all they’ve done is ask her to help around the house. A couple of months back another of our friends did the same thing because she broke up with her boyfriend. We’re all 14/15. I wanted to get some advice on what I could do to help them. It seems so sick to want to hurt yourself, but I don’t think that Jannie or our friend really hated themselves. I seems like they had heard of it and wanted to do it to tell people that they were upset. It worries me because if Jannie would do this over being asked to help out, what would she do if something really upsetting happened? I feel really panicked because I don’t know if she will do it again. Does anyone think that there is a trend for this going on among girls our age? Please help!

yeah I do think that it really is a trend for most teens; a few of my friends are the same way..I think you could probably help your friends by taking walks with them or go do something fun like go-kart racing to get all their problems off their minds. try to hang out with them a lot and give them compliments to help them feel better. also if they get mad about their chores often, then maybe you could help them out once in a while because If you have a lot of chores it can get stressful especially if it leads to arguments with parents. hope this helps :)
