What is a halter monitor, does getting one hurt?

I’m getting a halter monitor in a few days. I got an EKG, and they decided I needed a halter monitor to check my heart. Does getting it on (or whatever) hurt? What is it?

a halter monitor doesn’t hurt at all. It acts kind of like a 24 hour ekg, they stick the same kind of electrodes called leads onto your skin just like with an ekg and they are all attached to this little machine about the size of a walkman. You just keep the little machine in your pocket or on the little strap they have it attached to for as many days as they want you to wear it. The results are sent to a computer at an office and it records the activity of your heart the same way as an ekg would, only for a long period of time and while you are doing your normal day to day activities and during sleep. That way if there is any abnormalities in your heart beat they can see what it is and what activity was probably happening during that time. It doesnt hurt at all, its just those little stickers and the wires attached. The worst part is taking the little stickers off, but I find baby oil makes them glide right off..pain free.. Good luck!
