I like this guy...

I am friends with this one girl and she is my best friend. She is really close with her cousin and so every weekend I hang out with her and also her cousin, also her cousin is a guy. At first I didn’t like him but the more time I spent with him the more I liked him. We will text till midnight, and talk on the phone really late and sometimes and My friend, him, and I all three-way and talk for hours at a time. Also he is only nine months older than me so there is no big age difference. The problem is her cousin has gone out with two of her friends before and they all ended up ruining the friendship with her, so she says that him and I can’t date. I really like him though and knowing that it will never work out makes me really sad, and I know he doesn’t like me because he talks about the girls he likes all the time and he knows that we can’t date because he doesn’t want to ruin another friendship. I still really like hanging out with him. Should I still like him hoping that he might like me or just give up hope??
