Of course there is. You just have to know what works for you and what doesn’t. You have to pinpoint your challenges (e.g. genetic obesity, lack of time, etc) and try to work around it. A healthy diet and exercise (cardio + weights) have always been the tried and true healthy way to long term weight loss.

If you’re not sure where to start, I suggest going to a gym and signing up for a personal trainer. These guys are great, they keep you motivated, and they tailor programs for you around your goals and your challenges. They will measure your weight/height, blood pressure, heart rate, etc. Their advice also lasts long after you need them. You don’t have to hire them for very long either. 15 or so sessions should be enough to learn everything you need to keep going. It’s a really good long-term investment.

Have you tried doing cardio 3 times a week for an hour each time? I was asking myself the same question before I tried this ;-)
