EXTREMELY annoying problem. every so often there is either a very very very high pitched ring in my ear that only lasts about ten seconds, or, a lower pitched ring that lasts minutes. What’s wrong with with my ears ?

Sounds like Tinnitus

There’s not much you can to to stop it, but you should see the doctor anyway so he can rule out any underlying causes.

It does sound like Tinnitus. But it could also be an ear wax blockage. I had this in college. It was from cleaning my ears with q-tips too much. The wax got pushed and compacted and solidified. It left my ears totally ringing. I thought I had titinnus and my life was over, but thankfully the doctor actually drained it. I was better immediately.

Sorry, gross and maybe TMI, but try the doctor first :)

Life over after tinnitus? It’s not so bad, a little annoying when trying to get to sleep. I assume most people will be having this permanently soon enough considering how loud I hear people listening to their Ipods.
