Hving an English problem

So the thing is that, I’m not from an English speaking country n there’s a sentence that I dun fully understand (from my psychology course): insomnia does not occur exclusive during the course of another sleep wake disorder, n actually the exact thing that I dun understand in the whole sentence is the term “does not occur exclusively”, could anyone plzzzzzz kindly explain it in simpler eng… I kn I’m stupid :(

Does not occur exclusively means that that’s not the only time it happens
