How - will I need this to be a doctor?

If I become a children’s doctor could I become one from core science alone + alevels blaablaablaaa, or would I need to take additional science as a gcse too?

Answer #1

Generally, the premed requirements consist of a year of biology, a year of inorganic chemistry, a year of organic chemistry, calculus, English, and a year of physics.

So, you take normal 4-year Bachelor of Science courses with an emphasis on pre-med courses, get your BS, then apply to Medical School.

Answer #2

Zudano is correct, if you want to study medicine in the U.S.

Now, for the U.K. Check out this site http://www.wanttobeadoctor.co.uk/main.php

It looks like it depends on where you apply. Obviously the most straightforward path is going A levels, and getting at least 2 As and a B (three As is obviously better).

If you’re going to take sciences at A levels, believe me you want to take the sciences in your O levels.
