How to remove braces yourself?

Answer #1

You can’t, you’ll do yourself permanent damage. Get an orthodontist to do it.

Answer #2

yeaa you cannot do this the brackets are glued on to your teeth ! that would be horrible!

Answer #3

I removed my braces with no damage at all; my teeth are still in tact, but I only had the top brace and the wire was thin, and I had it on for over a year with no upkeep. I first poured a little vinegar over the brackets to loosen them up after I popped off the bands and pulled out the wire. I waited a few minutes after I poured the vinegar over my brackets before I pulled them off. I pulled them off gently with pliers. Now, one of my back brackets had popped off by itself a few weeks later while I was eating something, but the other back bracket is a struggle to remove. I have loosened it a little and I will continue to try both pliers and a nail clipper to remove it. So, taking braces off yourself can be done with no damage but it depends on how much you have on your teeth and how much maintenance you have had by your orthodontist.
