How do people manage life's difficulties?

I’m 25 year old guy, overall having a normal life with a job and college education, not fat, not thin and have good parents.

So what’s my issue? I don’t have any particular interest in anything in my life. I hate my job. I can’t make friends. All I got is my game system and computer to escape from reality. I think about sucide all the time, but I know I never will, since I don’t want my parents to feel sad; they don’t deserve that. But, everyday, I feel like I wish I was never born.

I honestly don’t understand how everyone does it.. How everyone manages to stay happy and have a goal. I’ve worked hard for more education, but I keep failing. I never have and probably never will have a girl friend.

I know I’m not the only one who’s had difficulties in their lives, but I seem to take things really hard and never really recover. Any suggestions? I won’t go to therapy or take anti-depressants.

Dear ZAU, You are VERY smart not to take anti-depressants. Someone (anyone) to talk to really does help..a friend..mom or dad..or whoever..it does help.

Anyway, the feelings you feel are probably normal..what you are doing different than alot of people, is keeping these negative thoughts right up front in your mind so you constantly dwell on them. This would make ANYONE feel the way you are feeling. What I want you to do starting today is the following exercise.. Everytime you get a negative thought..catch yourself and say to yourself..”next thought” If (in the begining) your next thought is negative repeat the exercise..keep repeating the exercise in your mind until your next thought is a positive or nice thought. You can do this AND it does work. We as children are sometimes never told of the dangers of allowing our minds to dwell on negative, bad thoughts..If there is a cliff with a far drop-off, there are signs all over..there are fences etc.. For some reason we never warn people of the dangers of dwelling on negative thought..We forget that this is also a choice for us AND YOU. It is vital for you to understand this and that you do the above exercises..Don’t worry.. you are completely normal. The only thing that you need to do is to take control of the direction of your mind..I think this will be easy for you This also includes judging yourself..Don’t do this either. The subject is another issue so for now just do the above exercises, and control where your mind goes. One last thing.. If you hate your job this is just natures way to show you that there is something way greater out there for you.. But for now please do the exercises and keep in mind in the begining you may be catching yourself every 1 to 2 minutes saying “next thought” thats OK, those times wll be more spaced the more you learn to control the direction of your thinking. I also want you to post on your board, or just dwell on all of the things that you are thankful for. Good-luck!! Familycoach

Decide to find faith in Christianity. See a pastor or Priest from any donomination of church. See if you’ve got friends who are involved with Christianity on some level, ask to go with them to their church to make the proccess easier.
