How to make my body less stiff and robotic?

I just joined my school’s dance club, and we are doing this contemporary choreography. However, the instructor said my body is too stiff for this kind of dance, I tend to look robotic and lock my joints and everything. She said I need to relax and loosen up, which I dont know how. Can someone give me some tips on how to relax my joints and my body? Thanks a lot!

Yoga…The “center” of Yoga is the spine…all exercises stretch muscle, loosens joints, making the body more supple and flexible…it also enhances balance and grace in movement…

Most likely what is holding you back is nerves. You need to get some self-confidence, try a new look, dress in something that makes you comfortable and look good, put on some music that you like, and really listen to the beat of the music. You have to pay attention to the beat in order to be able to flow with it.
