That being said, if you’re symptoms merit such a prescription, doctors will give you the choice of the name brand or generic and explain the benefits as well as risks to both of the options (or all the main options, if there are more than two).

However it’s a REALLY bad idea to try to get a prescription for anything as it can cause mental and physical dependencies and other side effects, depending on the specific medication.
