How to get my parents off my back?

I’m 21 year old, and my parents want me to get married “before I get too old” they say, so I was wondering if I can hire a husband (fake marriage), so would get off my back and let me focus on my career? What do think?

Answer #1

Tell them to go to hell, it is your life, you are under no obligation to marry someone, the average man marries at about 28 nowadays, if you get a baby/marriage at the age of 21 then you are missing out on a lot in life.

Forced marriages belongs in the 18’th century, tell your parents that.

Answer #2

that plan will just backfire on you in the long run, just tell them you’re waiting to find the right person no matter how long it takes. youre an adult and can make your own decisions.

Answer #3

Just tell them that you’re not ready to get married yet, and that you will get married once you are ready and have a partner that you want to be with forever. :)

Answer #4

Well, that’s pretty much up to you, but why would you want to marry someone who you have no relationship with?

Sure, your parents are bothering you - parents do that - but to do something like that just to get them off your back…well, it’s seems pretty unreasonable.

Answer #5

How do you get them off your back? Focus on your career, and cut them out of your life, occasionally writing letters to them as to why you have chosen to do this. Maybe that’ll get the message across. You could also find statistics as to how many couples married around age 21 get divorced within the first 10 years or so. Maybe they did this themselves and it was successful, but that doesn’t mean it would be for you.

They might be saying this because they don’t want to be too old to enjoy grandchildren when they arrive.

Answer #6

I wish mine were telling me that! lol but seriously that is not a good idea. Just tell them that you are not interested in relationships right now and that you would like to focus on your career. I they cant understand that then they dont need to be talking to you about personal matters like that. Just keep in mind. It is YOUR life not theirs to control anymore. Dont get sucked into something you dont want.
