How to form a band?

I’ve been wanting to start my own band for quite a while now, but I’m just not sure how to go about forming one. I’m in my first year of high school, so I’m positive that I could meet a lot more people that are willing to join than in middle school, but how should I ask? Should I put up fliers and hold auditions, or should I simply ask someone who might be interested?

And I know this sounds stupid, but I’m really shy and I don’t know a whole lot of people, so yeah…Any suggestions? Please and thank you! =)

Thanks, and actually, it’s helpful advice. I just need to stop being so shy and go meet people! There are a bunch of people who play their guitars in the cafeteria in the mornings, so I might ask one of them, I just hope they take me seriously. I mean a freshman asking a bunch of juniors/seniors could be a bit awkward, but whatever it takes, right! Thanks, again. =)

find people who like the kind of music you hope to play, make friends, and ask. I know, easier said than done.
