How to find a job in Radio or Television Broadcasting

I graduated from college 2 1/2 years ago with a B.A. in Communications Radio/TV/Film major with a minor in Sociology.

I still have not got my 1st job out of college yet. I have had several interviews with television stations for producing and directing jobs, but nothing for on-air which I want to do.

I have never had an internship, which might be holding me back, but some of the people I talk to in the business say they never had an internship either. Also, most internships you have to take for college credit. I know the job market is tough, but I am just so sick of that as an excuse. I am just really frustrated because it seems like I went to school for nothing and will be stuck at the same dead end job I have had when I was going to school as a cashier at a grocery store.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am to the point right now where I have just stopped looking for several months because it just seems hopeless.

Answer #2

You need connections in the industry… an internship is a great way to make those connections.

Answer #3

Its hard to get an internship when I am out of school, because all internships that I know of at the stations where I live require doing the internship for college credit and since I am out of school that is a no go.
