I am an international student studying in the US. I graduated from a top 10 university in the US with an economics major. I have a good GPA and good work/ internship experience, yet I can't seem to find a full time job! My visa expires in June so after this month, I will be forced to go back home. I have tried to apply for jobs at home but never receive any response either. To make things worse, I have a boyfriend here in the US so we will most likely do a long distance relationship, which I am dreading. I am extremely unhappy and frustrated. I have applied to over 400 jobs and seen my lesser qualified classmates get jobs simply because they are American. Oh and I've had my resume/ cover letter checked and I have been to the career office multiple times. It just seems that luck is lacking on my side.
Any advice? Thanks a lot!!!
Oh, in that case... Employers are usually very picky when it comes to international students. I say you should continue working hard. The employers find it costly and hard paper work hiring an international student. But if you keep looking, I'm sure you will find a genuinely good employer.
As an international student, you're illegible for work. To be able to work, you must pay taxes. To do this, I think you need to apply for residency, ie: Green cards etc. The main point is, you can't work because you currently don't pay taxes. Wish you good luck on this :]
yes I understand all the logistics of course, but it is possible to work legally after your employer sponsors your visa for you, I just need help getting to that point...
The employers most likely are picking people who can start immediately and without any hassle. I would look into jump starting your work visa.
