Step1 Dry your hair really well. This will allow the gel hair product to hold a little better.

Step2 Decide if you want to use petroluem jelly in your hair. While this tends to hold the style very well, it can also be difficult to remove from your hair later. Another option is strong hold hair gel.

Step3 Apply the petroleum jelly or hair gel to the hair. Use a generous amount, as it can take quite a bit to hold the hair in this alternate Mohawk style.

Step4 Work on forming the hair as the product dries. Use your hands to mold the hair on the top of your head to a peak. This will create the faux hawk style.

Step5 Spray the hair generously with hairspray to keep the style from falling flat. The longer the hair on the top of your head, the more product it will take to keep the Mohawk looking good.

Step6 If your hair is all one length, comb the sides down before gelling and styling the hair on the top.
