How to convince parents to leave me alone when with my girlfriend?

Hi everyone, so I’m 16 and I’ve been going out with this girl for about a month or so. We’re very into each other and love spending time together. The only problem is, that whenever we’re at my house, my mom is constantly bothering us. She won’t let me close my bedroom door (I think paranoid about us having sex even though we won’t) and she frequently pops in unannounced which is very akward when we’re making out etc… Does anyone know how I can convince her to be a little more respecting of our privacy? (like letting us shut the door) We’re not doing anything wrong, it’s just very akward having her creep on us.

Your mom is obviously nervous and I think it would be good for you to sit down and talk to her - just you and her.

Let her know where you are at in the relationship, what you are thinking, and how serious you are about the girl.

A big part of it for your mom is the unknown and so a lot of the times she can only make assumptions.

Gently and calmly explain where you are at and asking her how she feels.

For example, say “Mom, how do you feel about me dating? “ walk through her fears and let her know where you are at.

An even better idea is to talk to your dad about it. Have both your dad and your mom there and talk about this rationally and calmly - that reflects maturity and open communication.

If you find confronting it face to face extremely hard you can try writing letters.

Decide how you are going to communicate with your mom, because that’s eventually going to be how you communicate with your spouse.

Have you tried talking to your mom? Does she have a reason to be paranoid? Why do you want to be alone in your room with your girlfriend? Is there a possibilty of things escalating? Do you have condoms? Is your girlfriend on bc? If your answer to either of the last two questions is yes and your girlfriend isn’t on birth control for her peiod, then you two shouldn’t be alone together… try hanging out in a different, more public place…
