Steps Drink a little bit of water before you begin singing. Now do some breathing excercises, like take a deep breath, hold for 5 seconds and then exhale, or do airplane noises with you lips. You can also sing up and down the scale with various syllables, like “Nee”, and “Ah”. Basically, any syllable you can think of will work. Drink a little bit more of water. Pick the song you want to sing. Sing from your stomach, not your throat. Singing doesn’t come from your throat. Look down at your thumbnail. That’s the size of your vocal cords. If you sing from your throat, you’ll put unneccesary stress on them, and your voice will tire out easily. Push your stomach out when you are singing. This is called support. It may be difficult, but once you get used to it you will be able to master it. Having good support is essential for good singing.

Tips Don’t be afraid of your voice. If you don’t think you can hit a note, try it anyway. You never know! Practice support and vocal excercises as often as you can. When moving on to singing words, enunciate! The clearer you are, the better you’ll sound. Have fun! If you’re doing an audition or a performance, pick a song that you like and know well. NEVER drink cold water before you sing. It will shock your vocal chords and make you sound terrible. Try room temperature water, but warm tea is the best
