How old do you have to be to try out for amerian idol?

I want to try out for american idol, but I’m 14, going to 15 in October, and want to know how old you need to be to try out. thanks :)

if you want to do it as an adult you have to be 16.but they have a kid one I think still and you could be in that one because most young teens with talent go on it. I hope I helped. Good Luck!! :D

you have to be sixteen. not eighteen. you have to be 18 for so you think you can dance. just sixteen for american idol

I knew someone who tried out for Canadian Idol and she was 16 at the time =)
