how old do you have to be to get a credit card

uhh…no. In most places you have to be 18. You’re not even old enough to work to pay for one, plus you probably have no credit. The only way you’ll probably be able to get a credit card is if your parents got one in their name and gave it to you.

No you can not. No credit card company will approve you, your not even old enogh to work yet. How would you pay off the credit card?

Check at your bank or your parents bank about getting a “secured” credit card. If you can put $200 or more into a CD (Certificate of Deposit), then they hang onto it (like a savings acct) and it’s a back up so that the bank knows they are getting the money back. You will be allowed as much credit as you give them to hold. You’ll also get interest. You might be able to get one of those, or a debit card. I don’t know why you’d want so much responsibility at your age. Sometimes the mature thing to do, is use caution, but, good luck.

At that age especially, you should avoid a credit card even if you could get one, at ALL costs !! - get financially stable first, then no more than one (mainly for emergencies).

Well, at any age you can have a credit card. All you need is your parents approval and their signature on the paper work. But if you can’t provide the bank with this requirement.. then no, it’s not possible for you to get a credit card. There are a couple of web pages which speak to this issue better than I can.
