You can have it neutered at six months old. Best thing for it. With thousands of strays and unwanted dogs why bring in any more?

madmantha - phrannie gave excellent advice! Just because you opted to breed your dog early, doesn’t mean that is what is in the best health interest of the dog. And yes, phrannie is correct, there are TOO many pits in shelters that are eventually euthanized. Someone should think long and hard before breeding.

phrannie, I beg to differ. I bred a pit at 6 months, and she was perfectly fine. Yes you need to meet the standards set by the AKC or whatever country you live in, but a dog does not have to wait until they are in their third heat.
I agree he should do more research before breeding an animal, but you do not need to repremand anybody.

Kyser, thats not what he asked. a lot of people would rather have a full breed than a mutt. Not me, but a lot of other people. If my pit mix was a pure bred I would take advantage of that too. She is brindle with a couple of little white spots(refer to my pictures) but she os 1/4 boxer. -_-

Anyway, they can start breeding around 6 months to a year. =]

im not positive but I used to breed boston terriers and after the females 2nd time in heat she should be able to breed
