To purchase a quality dog from a quality breeder, you’re looking at anywhere from $500 (mom and pop licensed and regulated breeder)-$1,500 (more professional and accredited/established breeder) . Then there is the cost of food- roughly $40/month give or take brand. Plus spaying or neutering a large breed dog usually runs about $200-300 when all is said and done. $80/year for heart worm vaccination. $55 for rabies. $25 for dog license (this varies all over the country… that’s what ours costs). I recommend getting a pet insurance- these usually run about $25 bucks a month… that can save you THOUSANDS in vet bills. $100+ for a dog crate, $50 for that size dog bed… You have to take into consideration the initial cost of a leash, collar, food/water bowl, toys, and treats- that’ll probably run you at least another $100 too.

You can always ADOPT a dog (why so set on a doberman?- just curious) for about $50-$125 from your local humane society. Mill Dog Rescue is another fantastic place to adopt from- most are about $50 from there. Check to see if your state is part of the Doberman Rescue- you can always adopt a dobi from there- that’s an EXCELLENT and affordable option.

Dogs cost whatever the market will bear. You can pay up into the thousands for a dog you want to show…Check around in your area, and see what people are asking for them.

Check the internet and see what breeders across the country are asking for them. Dobes have genetic problems (Wobblers, Von Willebrand’s disease, cancer, Dilated cardiomyopathy…heart disease)…so be very careful and do your research before you buy one.
