Sperm can survive in the uterus up to 3 days after having intercourse. The best time to get pregnant is 1 week to 10 days before you expect your period as a period is caused after ovulation. (Where the egg has decended and then died and the lining of the uterus is expelled with said egg) I hope your sister has good luck, but should understand that the average time from starting trying to when a woman actually gets pregnant is about 6 months.
