How long until I change jewelry for monroe?

Okay, I have multiple questions about my newly pierced monroe I’ve had for two days.

  1. it was done d.y.I, I know bad, but the jewlery I had to use for it was a normal earring stud and I bought the proper jewlery and I can’t get it in, any pointers?

  2. do I have to keep in the beginning jewlery for 4-6 weeks? Even if I just want to change it?

  3. is it normal for it to swell a little?

Please & thank you. (:

an earring stud belongs in your ear, not your face the hole will never heal with an earring stud in it the backing though will press into your skin and cause an indent that will easily go red and can get infected you need to keep the PROPER jewelrey in for 3 months, because thats how long on average it takes to heal only after 3 months should you change it if you cant get the proper jewelrey in, as I said, the hole will never heal and you will most likley get it infected and have a horrible ugly dent in your upper lip so you need to take the stud out asap if you cant get proper jewelrey back in wait at least 3 months for the hole to heal and then get it PROFESIONALLY pierced also if you cant be bothered to get a hole in your flesh professionally pierced you shouldn’t be getting a piercing AT ALL a piercing is a wound and there’s a lot more to piercing than just stabbing yourself with a needle

and yes, swelling is what happens after you stab something through your flesh, if it doesnt go down within 3 days of getting it done, the swelling is a sign of infection
