How long does sternum piercings last?

LOL at what hippiepeaceprincess said. There’s no such thing as a ‘’deep piercing’’ when it comes to your sternum. Your sternum is a major bone, and a long one at that. Any piercing there stays above it and there’s usually not much muscle there, so it’s a surface piercing either way you look at it. It’s not like they’re able to pierce THROUGH the bone, or even go under it like she’s insinuating. AND it’s chances of getting infected are the same as any piercing… But it WILL reject at some point, there’s no getting around that.

I think it’d look fine, some might not think so… All that matters is what YOU think.

As for the sternum piercing, it’s a surface piercing so it’s not going to last forever.

You can either get it done with the bar that goes through the skin. Or you can get it with a microdermal.

Microdermals are more expensive (about double the price of the bar), but they last a lot longer. With the bar on a surface piercing like the sternun, you’ll be lucky if it doesn’t reject within a year. With a microdermal, they usually reject within 3-5 years…

Plus the scar that you’d get with a microdermal will be a lot smaller then the scar you’d get from the bar.
