How it illegal to make a child to physical punishment?

ok my health teacher mr keenan says if were late we do push ups I did the push ups and they werent good enough for him so I got a detention and it hurts doing pushups and I was wondering in the state of illinois if it was illegal to do so

Answer #1

Lol. Wow. I swear. Only in the U.S. can one actually think about trying to fire/sue a P.E. teacher for making kids exercise. Congrats. You win the award for the most ridiculous question on this site.

Answer #2

I don’t think that’s illegal. Pushups are not corporal punishment. I mean, if he makes you so many that you’re about to collapse, OK that’s not good, but if it’s just like 15 or something, there’s nothing wrong with that. How many does he make you do?

Answer #3

Good grief! Pushups, given as punishment for coming late, are fine. Beating you wiht a stick would not be fine. If the pushups hurt it may be an indication that you are a little weak. Suck it up, do the pushups or come in on time! It’ll never hurt you and may actually make you feel good, in the long run!

Answer #4

it doesnt sound legal considering hes a teacher its aslo not right to punnish you again for not doing the push-ups poperly talk to your parents about this and then go to the school principal and tell him/her what happened because what the teacher is doing is wrong

Answer #5

It’s absolutely, 100% over-the-moon not illegal. It is a perfectly legitimate punishment. And ty is right, you win the Most Ridiculous award for today. Congratulations. Stop whining about having to do a minimum of physical activity.

PS: Just so we can nip a few things in the bud, it’s also not illegal for:

  1. Your parents to make you brush your teeth.
  2. A policeman to give you a ticket because you didn’t want to wait 20 seconds for the sign to change to ‘Walk’.
  3. To run out of lip gloss and your mom TOTALLY won’t buy you anymore.
Answer #6

Next time be on time and you won’t have any trouble. I agree with Mikeh and ty. For goodness sake, grow up a little bit.

Answer #7

Maybe in a millitary camp but definitly not school !! Tell your parents !! And the fact that you did the push ups and he still gave you detention well thats bullying you should definitly get him reported to the schools board of managment. Xo
