How will salt water kill me?

Is it ok to drink salt water, because I’ve heard that you can die when you drink it but other people have said it only makes you sick. How much makes you sick and how much kills you?

Answer #1

Salt causes dehydration, and can result in kidney failure.

The amount that you would have to drink for it to become dangerous depends on whether you’re talking about regular water with regular table salt added, or seawater (which contains several different types of salts).

Answer #2

BTW ichibanarky, im not talkin about regurlarly, just as a one off and its just regular salt and water, except the salt is called sea salt???

Answer #3

If you drink regular salt and water, you’ll probably just not feel unwell. I know that in the African cultures over here they drink sea water as a way of cleansing their bodies (only once off), it causes them to have a few bowel movements.

If you drink Epsoms salts and water, you’ll be on the toilet a few times (it works as a laxative).
