How do you make alcohol?

How do you make apple cider liquor? I have a gallon of apple cider (non alcoholic) and wish to make some alcoholic apple cider. I think its as simple as letting it age a week past its expiration date. But I’m not sure… If you know how to make some alcohol without alcohol already present please tell me! Thanks a lot!

Put a teaspoon of active dry yeast in it and leave it at room temperature for about a week. Unfortunately, unless you pressed the apple juice yourself, it almost certainly has stabilizers designed to prevent fermentation, and will rot rather than ferment.

If it starts bubbling within 24 hours, then it’s fermenting rather than rotting.
