How do you make a gingerbread house?

Well I did and there seems to be baking involve when I skimmed through the instructions.

REALLY??? How does that work? I’ve always thought you just buy icing and grahm crackers etc..and stick em together…

Answer #2

My son just made gingerbread houses at school and they used small milk cartons. They put graham crackers around it with icing and then filled in the gaps with icing, then decorated with candies.

Buy a kit. Most grocery stores this time of year sell the kits in a box that come with everything you need, no cooking even involved. They are really fun!

Trader Joe’s sells a kit that not only looks great it tastes pretty good too.

you can get a kit at the grocery store sometimes…orrr you’re going to have to make the gingerbread cookie dough and make 3 different sized pieces for your house, which are…

1 big sheet; for the foundation (bottom of your house) 4 medium sheets; for the walls 2 little sheets; for the ceiling

some people do it by drawing the dimensions out on brown paper and cutting them out. Using the templates as a stencil to cut the dough into the required pieces. Here are the templates you’ll need:

Two front and rear walls: 5 inches high by 8 inches long. Cut out 2 windows from each wall, and 2 1/2 by 1 1/2-inch door in one.

Two side walls shaped like a house (triangle on a square): 5 inches high by 6 inches long, with a triangle 7 inches high on top (cut all in 1 piece). Cut 1 window out of each side.

Two overhanging roof pieces: 4 1/2 inches wide by 9 inches long.

One door: 2 1/2 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide.

The length and height is up to you though…make sure you do the math correctly, so it all fits in the end! and you can stick this all together with icing, then let it sit for an hour or two. then once the sheets are completely dried together, you can decorate by using the icing as glue and stick candy on.
