How do you know whats real?

I’m 14 and TOTALLY SOLD OUT TO GOD! I grew up in church all my life! I always tried to seek him and find him, But yet I could’nt always feel him or in your cas “ I could’nt hear him talk to me!” I would search and search. I knew he was there because I saw the miracles and the pureness that my parents had. And he would give me sighns that he was there but I hardly acknoledged him! BUT as I matured WOW did I see how REAL he was!!! I wanted to get to know him, so I talked to him every day for about 10 min. nothing happened but I continued to do it…! I added 10 more min. nothing. then 10 more! FINALLY GOD saw how faithful I was being “ he spoke to me” gave me scriptures that BLEW MY MIND! gave me opurtunities to help people, gave me his heart! And I gave him mine, I was forgiven my sins were washed away and I recieved his holy spirit! he’s my best friend/father/GOD!

I’m a Christian. My whole family believes in God, and it’s not that I’m a really churchgoing person or anything, but I do believe in him. However, I believe that I don’t really have to go to church every week, because God will love me no matter what. I do go to church on Christmas-Eve. But the thing is, it’s very hard to explain why people believe in God. That’s why it’s called “believing”. You have to believe that he was really there. I’m not saying I don’t have my doubts sometimes! I totally do. Since like you said I didn’t get a sign of him or anything, it’s kinda weird. But it just feels good to think that you have someone who’s always watching over you. I also believe that people who die go to someplace better then this. I don’t know if theres really something like a heaven, but I like to think that the souls of people who die will never be completely gone.

Also, another thing: I can see ghosts. My mom can too and I’ve been seeing them since I was a little girl. Anyway, BECAUSE I can see them, I know that there MUST be something up there. It’s hard to explain!

Do you beileve in wind, do you see wind, you may see the affects of wind but you never actually see it, but yet you know it is there. Jesus is the same way He is there but we just don’t see Him. He doesn’t show Himself because He wants you to beileve in your heart that He is who He says He is. By saying that you beileve in Him without actually seeing Him is part of being a Christian. To hear God’s voice you just have to open your heart and mind a listen with the faith of a child. No doubts in your heart of who He is and beileve me, He will speak to you, it may not be exactly what you would think, but He will speak to your heart and mind and if you are truly wanting to hear HIm He will speak to you. Just put all doubt and fear aside and tell Him that you are listening and just see what can happen.

I think you are blessed to be among so many believers, as none of my family members share my faith. The bible tells us to seek him with your whole heart and you will find him. God is not and will never be a liar, so seek him and you will find him. Another thing I want to let you know is that God speaks to your spirit, you wont hear him with your ears. So it wont be like a voice in your head or anything. The bible also says that if you believe there is one God you do well, for even the demons believe and tremble. But, my faith is my faith, its a personal decision. Don’t let anyone force you into it or talk you out of it. He wants you to believe because you want to.

I think that God is real. Everyone has questioned whether or not God is real, but believing in him isn’t always based on what you want to believe, sometimes people decide to follow what their friends believe. You aren’t going to hear a voice that says “YES, I am real!!” thats why you have to have faith. And it’s always nice to be on the safe side, that way you don’t go up in flames when you die =]

So your belief in god is an insurance policy…I certainly do hope you decide to back the “true” god as opposed to one of the false ones. It would suck to die and get to hell, realizing that Moko the Lizard God of Easter Island was the one true deity.

And, is there a reason for believing in god other than fear of eternal hellfire? If there isn’t, you should really ask yourself more about this god you claim to believe in.

Jae, god doesn’t talk to anyone or do anything for anyone else either. A lot of people like to believe god is real, so they claim the voice of their subconscious is the voice of god, and they claim that good things that happen to them are blessings from god.

I’ve seen people attribute the dumbest things to god. I’ve seen people say that god answered their prayer for a parking space, or to ace a test…just crazy stuff - and they actually believe it! It seems like everyone who wins the lottery talks about how god answered their prayer. How childishly arrogant! When we’re subjected to all this nonsense all day every day, most people will fall in line and start believing it as well.

Consider yourself one of the fortunate few who seems to have a natural immunity to the brainwashing.

Here’s what I know to be true: God being pure cannot even look upon sin - man, even in his very best state is a sinner - on judgement day, either: your sins are covered by the blood-shed sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross (salvation and only salvation - being a nice person isn’t good enough - even at our very best, we are but filthy rags), and remembered no more or they are not (your sins are not covered) - where God’s great love comes into play is, He provided a WAY (Jesus) for us not to perish and live in Heaven with Him (He certainly didn’t have to do this but did because He loved us so) - if you read carefully John 3:16, this is exactly what it says - each person will either accept or reject, you must decide for yourself and yes, it’s so important, it has eternal consequences - He Loves you and wants you to accept God’s free gift to man - Jesus - ‘if you are a truth seeker, then you will find Jesus’ - if you pray acknowledging you are a sinner and ask Jesus for forgiveness and ask Him to come into your heart, He will !!
