How do you kill rumors when everyone is encouraging them?

At school, it somehow got started that I was going out with one of my guy friends. We didn’t think it was too bad because we both knew it wasn’t true and we were trying to stamp it out, but now I am going out with up to four people, depending on who you ask. Two of the people I’m going out with are guy friends, one is a friend of a friend and one is a female friend! Most people are encouraging the rumors and, although it wasn’t too bad at first, it’s starting to affect my school work. It’s really hard to get anything done or make it to class on time when people are constantly stopping you to ask about the relationships you have. Any advice?

Answer #3

Act like it doesn’t bother you and do your best to keep the rumors out of mind. If people don’t get a reaction from you, soon they will get bored and start rumors about someone else.

They just want to get a negative reaction out of you. You can also just laugh it off. When anyone comes up to you and teases you about it, laugh with them even if it hurts your feelings.

People like bringing other people down, so if you don’t show them it bothers you, everything will disappear with time.
