How do you get dents out of your cello?

After I posted the ‘why is that?’ comment, I figured something like that must have happened.

Well I 100% apologize for ‘kicking off at you’- I meant no offense, simply to clarify and to see what you thought was so wrong about his comment. Though a reasonable person such as yourself can easily see how I was confused. I am sorry though.

That’s a bit odd, clawjaw. Mikeh gave excellent advice and fully answered her question. There is no detectable sarcasm, there was no mockery- only well thought out and informative advice from what would appear to be a source that has experience with the problem.

Are you suggesting she disregard people who give good advice? Should she perhaps listen to you- somebody who didn’t take the time to answer her question AT ALL?

You can remove dents from wood by wetting the affected area, holding a damp cloth over it, and applying a steam iron to the cloth. What this will do is cause the hollow tubes that make up the surface of the wood to expand with water, hopefully re-inflating the crushed bits that make up the dent.

One major caveat, however – this process can be very damaging to the finish on wood, causing the stain to peel or run. If you are worried about this, test it out on a non-visible area of the wood first.

Failing that, you would need to sand out the dented spots and refinish the wood.
