How do we know which religion is the TRUTH?

I have read many responses to the question…What is teh difference between Christianity and Catholicism. I can’t hellp but wonder which opinion is the truth. How can we distinguish between false knowledge and tha truth? We can get lost in many religious opinions, most of which were backed by detailed references, but who is right? How do we know that the bible was translated correctly?

Answer #1

With so many denomonations linked to Christianity, it natural to wonder whose right. If you are a Christian, then you believe the bible is absolute truth. The reason there are so many denomonations is because people like to add or take away parts of the bible that they deam “unnecessariy” , even though the Bible says its danerous to do so. In other religions, it seems that unless your athiest or Hindu (or any other religion that have pagan beliefs) you believe a supreme creator although controversy cannot recall. I think tho, that everyone believes in God to some extent and they’re religion has decided who He is. The thing is tho, is you cant define God all I know (being a Christian) is what the bible tells me what I’ve experience and tho is was put together by man, it was created by God over years of His people recording what He has done for them, their nieghbor, their nation, and finally the world. I could go on, but I think this is long enough. hope it answerd your question!!!:)

Answer #2

I have seen it a few times (examples: nn, oo, h___h, etc.) Thanks

The grandma’s (mother anderson) face in the picture kinda explains it the best to me…

Answer #3

…its a face… welcome to the Internet…

Answer #4

You don’t even know me. You don’t know what I know or what I believe.

I can deduce from your recent display of pompous arrogance, as well as your relative misconceptions about the difference between belief in God vs. knowledge of religion… its all academic… you’ve shown that you don’t know much.

It is impossible to have a rational debate with any individual who doesn’t have the maturity or ability to articulate his/her thoughts or defend his/her positions without resorting to name-calling.

Your hypocrisy is pathetic… this entire exchange started with YOU quoting scripture in which those who don’t share your beliefs are labeled as fools. YOU started the name-calling.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

How juvenile… you limit faith to an absence of visual stimuli… thanks for further proving your ignorance. You cannot hear, smell, taste or touch God either, idiot.

Not my goal (at least not in this format).

Of course not… you lack the ability… and the knowledge of your own religion.

It has and continues too.

We can add ‘’denial’’ to your growing list of flaws…

My sources are the scriptures. If I were to cite them you would only ridicule them and insult me.

…yeah, I know your sources are scriptures. Its just common courtesy (on the Internet) to cite what you are quoting… idiot.

I have no desire or need to defend my faith and I defiantly have no need to defend scriptures.

Then you should also have no need to be a pompous as*s on the Internet… yet, here you are…

I am not sure how you would define recovery in this case, but if expect me to denounce my faith simply because a stranger on the internet calls me an idiot and tells me I’m weak, then yes, I am beyond recovery.

Like I expected… you’ve completely missed the point… evidence of a weak mind, and weaker faith. It had nothing to do with denouncing anything, drama queen. You took it that way because you’re too DEFENSIVE. But, you said earlier that you had no reason… to… defend… ohhh, I see… you’re a LIAR too. Well, the list grows again…

Farewell Captainassassin. Keep doing what you’re doing! You prove the scriptures with every post!

I’ve proven you’re a pompous idiot… actually, YOU did… congrats…

It was initially a suggestion to correct your behavior, but, being ever defensive… you couldn’t handle criticism, and WORSENED your behavior… typical. Now run away, and go learn where that particular section of scripture was stolen from.

Answer #5

The simple fact that I know MORE about your religion than you do… and that you’re claiming to KNOW things that you don’t… simple enough.

You don’t even know me. You don’t know what I know or what I believe.

  • idiot pompous idiot tiny brain WEAK pompous ass

It is impossible to have a rational debate with any individual who doesn’t have the maturity or ability to articulate his/her thoughts or defend his/her positions without resorting to name-calling. Therefore, this will be my last posting on this thread.

your FAITH is all you have

What else do I need?

(belief WITHOUT knowing)

That is the definition of faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

…and until you accept that

I do accept that.

nor does it make Christianity look any more promising to non-believers.

Not my goal (at least not in this format).

if it doesn’t improve yourself

It has and continues too.

help others

It has and continues too.

At least CITE your sources

My sources are the scriptures. If I were to cite them you would only ridicule them and insult me. I have no desire or need to defend my faith and I defiantly have no need to defend scriptures.

I think you’re beyond recovery at this point

I am not sure how you would define recovery in this case, but if expect me to denounce my faith simply because a stranger on the internet calls me an idiot and tells me I’m weak, then yes, I am beyond recovery.

Farewell Captainassassin. Keep doing what you’re doing! You prove the scriptures with every post!

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Answer #6

LOL! We know nothing of God other than what the scriptures tell us.

You ‘know’ NOTHING about God, and even LESS about irony… idiot. What the scripture tells you is irrelevant, when it can not be proven. Your ‘knowledge’ is NOT knowledge… it’s BELIEF, nothing more. Even the Bible itself has self-admission of its flaws within.

Yet, those who are given to pretentious attempts to glorify themselves in the eyes of others (the definition of pompous)

Yeah, that is EXACTLY what you did, idiot…

reject the only source of knowledge on the subject and can only resort to name calling.

Learn the definition of ‘’KNOWLEDGE’’ …idiot…

The irony is comical! Talk about foolish! LOL

…pompous again… hypocrisy isn’t very ‘Christ-like’ either. You’re another fine misrepresentation of Christianity. Learn the difference between:

BELIEF vs. KNOWLEDGE BELIEVING vs. KNOWING PROOF vs. EVIDENCE PROVING vs. CONVINCING

…think harder…

Answer #7

I know this is off subject, but would someone please tell me what the letters with the underline beween them mean? I have seen it a few times (examples: nn, oo, h___h, etc.) Thanks.

Answer #8

okey, they are mostly all true being a specific religion isnt going to get you to heaven you just got to believe that jesus is gods son and ask for forgiveness and stuff

Answer #9

You ‘know’ NOTHING

What makes you the authority on what I know or don’t know?

that is EXACTLY what you did

Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah. How childish.

idiot pompous

More obligatory name-calling. The default response of a threatened self-worshipper.

Answer #10

How do we know which religion is the TRUTH? That’s easy if you believe in God (The Sole Creator, The Sustainer, and The Most High).

  • Raise your hands to the heavens.
  • Make a sincere invocation deep from your heart.
  • Ask God to guide you to the right path.
Answer #11

LOL! We know nothing of God other than what the scriptures tell us. Yet, those who are given to pretentious attempts to glorify themselves in the eyes of others (the definition of pompous) reject the only source of knowledge on the subject and can only resort to name calling. The irony is comical! Talk about foolish! LOL

Answer #12

…kind of like depicting God as a male: He, Him, Father… just as foolish…

You should try actually TALKING, instead of just quoting scripture. You might seem like less of a pompous as*s that way.

Answer #13

What is teh difference between Christianity and Catholicism.

Catholicism is one of the major branches of Christianity.

I can’t hellp but wonder which opinion is the truth. How can we distinguish between false knowledge and tha truth?

By using reason, observation, and critical thinking.

We can get lost in many religious opinions, most of which were backed by detailed references, but who is right?

There are over 11,000 religious traditions in the world today. It’s simply not logical that any of them are the “one true religion” or that we even be required to sift through them all to find out.

How do we know that the bible was translated correctly?

We don’t. In some cases, we know that it wasn’t.

The bottom line is that religion is part of culture, and a person’s religion is usually determined by where he or she is born. Truth and god’s will have nothing to do with it.

Answer #14

You toss a coin and choose one…

The truth is never forget how meaningful life is.

Live it.Do the right thing.Be a good person.Have honour respect love and dignity in your heart.BElieve that there is a higher being.

And when you die I’m sure God will give you a break and say well at least you were a good person.

Answer #15

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Answer #16

If you are a Christian, then you believe the bible is absolute truth.

…which bible?

Answer #17

there are a lot of historical texts that have been found that do actually support a lot of the stories in the bible.

You speak of historically documented events… none of those historical texts support the existence of God, nor any of the ‘magical’ aspects surrounding God. There are historically documented events in Homer’s ILLIAD also, does that mean all the mythological and fantasy aspects of his book are true? No… it only leads to the objective conclusion that both the Bible AND the Illead, are a mixture of history and fantasy.

Answer #18

All reglions (not cults) look at god from different angles and different aspects it does not make one religion right or more supior than another, they are all correct, but just take the context differently, also for those of you who say God doesnt exist ect ect, I am not saying your beliefs are wrong you can believe what you want but actually know what you are talking about, there are a lot of historical texts that have been found that do actually support a lot of the stories in the bible. Just my two cents

Answer #19

Not every religion can be true, but they can all be false.

So how can you know which religion is truth? You can’t. That’s why you should reject them all.

Answer #20

Catholicism is laced with pagan tradition. True Christianity is not a religion at all. True Christianity is a relationship with God, made possible through the redemptive work of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. If you really want to know the truth, read the Bible, God’s Word. I suggest starting with the book of John, Galatians and Romans.

Answer #21

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Answer #22

if your smart and think about it you will realize that all religion is the same. and that the closest REAL thing to a god (whatever you call it) is energy. and that most religions just copy another and then destroy it. knowing all this you can kinda answer your question and say that the closest thing to the truth is sun worship. so if you choose it important to worship the sun go right ahead because at least the sun is real, and we actually do owe our lives and everything on earth to the sun. love, nico

Answer #23

Most religions tout their beliefs as the only correct ones, so I guess you will have to spin a wheel and see where it lands. Then after you die you will find out if you were right. OR In my case, I won’t find out if I’m right.

Answer #24

How do we know which religion is the truth?

…you can’t… NOBODY can… its unknowable…

What is teh difference between Christianity and Catholicism.

Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity; like how the Corolla is a product of Toyota.

How can we distinguish between false knowledge and tha truth?

Technically, since NONE of them can be proven right, then NONE of them are the truth.

We can get lost in many religious opinions, most of which were backed by detailed references, but who is right?

Its ALL based on opinions and belief, nothing more.

How do we know that the bible was translated correctly?

…which bible? There are dozens…

Answer #25

Catholism is Chritianity, there is no real difference. We all have the same basic beliefs but the way we choose to expess our faith differs. Im Catholic and I prefer my Catholic church to other Christian churches that I have been to simply because I like the calm, reflective atmosphere as opposed to the more energetic atmosphere I have experianced at some pentecostal churches. We do have some different ideas about things but you will find all christian people have different ideas about things, no one should blindly follow along with what you’re “suppose” to think, some things you just have to form your own opinions about. The really important beliefs in Christianity are present in Catholism.

Answer #26

shakes head

…it just never ends… ħ___ħ

Answer #27

What makes you the authority on what I know or don’t know?

The simple fact that I know MORE about your religion than you do… and that you’re claiming to KNOW things that you don’t… simple enough.

Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah. How childish.

…childish indeed, so stop doing it, idiot.

More obligatory name-calling. The default response of a threatened self-worshipper.

WRONG… its my default response to someone who is a pompous idiot… I know its hard for your tiny brain to comprehend anything that challenges your tiny world. But your FAITH is all you have (belief WITHOUT knowing) …and until you accept that, it’ll remain in its current state… WEAK.

And being a pompous as*s doesn’t strengthen your faith, nor does it make Christianity look any more promising to non-believers. And if it doesn’t improve yourself, or help others, that means you’re being selfish or as you like to say: ‘’self-worship’’ …so you’re just continuing to confirm your hypocrisy and pompous nature.

At least CITE your sources, that might make you seem a LITTLE LESS pompous… maybe. But I think you’re beyond recovery at this point.
