How do you be a good person and not be taken advantage of?

Ok…I’ve been struggling on how exactly I should approach problems in life… You see I find that a lot of people are ready to ask favours but not willing to return them…if its not in their comfort zone… I go out of my way for people…I do it a lot…but I realize that I get taken advantage of and a lot of people frown at my always ready to help attitude…

well I was wonderin if I should just stop helping…but I don’t want to turn out like them…the cynical broods…

what should I do?

maybe tone it down a bit but don’t do anything radical because then everyone who is nice who you’re usually nice to will think they’ve upset you
