How do I tell my Mom I've gotten my period?

I’ve now had it for 4 years and im 16 now. How do I come out and tell her? she’s taken me to the doctor already and now she says we’re going again tomorrow and im on it right now. She’s asked me time and time again if I’ve started over the years and she even asked me aagain today. how do I tell her I’ve started it without it seeming too suspicious? I’ve actually been crying about this for an hour and im really scared. help!!! asap. thanks.

ok, it’s a little odd… I wouldnt call you crazy :) ok look, I kinda get it, you were scared/embarrassed to tell her, then it turned into a lie, then it just got harder and harder to admit… and then it just became impossible… over one tiny stupid thing… it happens to the best of us… however, this has obviously gotten out of control… wait, I know, why dont you get the doctor to tell her? tell her you would like her to wait outside and you want to talk to the doctor alone (do this infront of the doctor so she cant refuse…) then explain what’s been going on to the doctor, and let the doctor talk to her. Yes she’ll be mad, but she’ll get over it… I mean come on, you’re 16! this has to end now… there’s no more next months left…

she’s most likely figured out you have it.. just be like, “hey mom, can you get me some tampons?” she’ll get the hint. seriously though, I don’t understand why you’re embarrassed about a stupid period. EVERY SINGLE WOMAN ON EARTH GOES THROUGH IT. it’s no big deal at all.

Answer #3

Just tell your mom the truth and explain why you didnt want to tell her ,

I’m sure she wont be angry once you’ve explained everything to her, I told my mom but I tell my mom everything just because my moms like my best friend and shizzz but hun dont worry about it, just tell her how you feel .

hope this helped

okay the first part of that you (ty) got on the nose. the second part though…not so much. I forgot to mention that my aunt is my doctor and unfortunately shares too many of the same views with my mother. unluck enough for me, telling her would be like telling my mom…or her finding out. she’d be equally angry.

Answer #5

scratch that. ill get a full exam and ill be outed at the doctor’s offfice. my mother will laugh with my doctor. trusttt me. she’ll be mad and think im crazy like most of you already do

Answer #6

4 years? she hasnt noticed pads/tampons in the trash for 4 years? uhm just tell her… mum I have my period, if it makes you feel better tell her you just got it but were scared to tell her

Answer #7

bealivee mee itss nott tthatt biggg of a deall justt be like mom I got my period! its just some blood lol…dontt worryy itt wont make anythinggg badd

Answer #8

uhm you really dont have a way out here… why dont you want her to know about them anyways? look, just tell your aunt you were scared and then the lie just spun out of control, or tell your dad, or another family member, or better yet, just tell your mum! she’s going to be pissed regardless, you might as well get this over with (what’s the worst that can happen?) I mean it’s not like you’re pregnant… there are bigger problems in life…

Answer #9

thing is, I think she might already know or have an idea. I mean c’mon four years? but somehow I feel she is either trying to get me to tell her or I don’t know. this is a bad situation. I know if I go to the docotor’s tomorrow ill be started oin hormones I dont need, I need a way to tell my mom without her being suspicious. or atleast a way to plead for more time

Answer #10

This is obviously a really big deal to you. It’s a natural thing, of course, and she knows it. she is probably asking you over and over because girls usually get their periods around 13. Every girl is different. Just sit her down and talk to her before you go to the doctor. She’s going to find out tomorrow by the doc if you don’t tell her today. You are 16, be a woman. she’s been through it too.

Answer #11

It’s not a big deal she gets it too every girl does just tell her!

Answer #12

I really wouldnt advise lying to her… but you could always tell her you just got it?

Answer #13

take into consideration though, she’d be furious if I’d started it and not told her. hence my fear

Answer #14

well I started mine and I was afrid to tell my mom but I just went up to her and said “mom I started my period”

Answer #15

She’s going to find out. Her furiousness will go away and once you get it out, you’ll feel much better.

Answer #16

The reason she is taking you to the doctor’s is that she is probably worried. Almost all women have their periods by your age. Those that don’t may have something wrong with them. Let her know that you are having them. Then you might need to think about why you have felt the need to be secretive.
