how do I explain to my mom I may have bipolar disorder? we are not very close to each other and I have trouble telling her my problems.sometimes she over react and starts asking questions like a crazy person to see if im alright, and I just don’t like that kind of attention to be drawn to myself. help me please. (and I’ve looked up the symptoms. I have most of the depressive bipolar.)

Answer #1

first of all, I know exactly what your talking about. same thing happened to me. I told my mom by e-mailing her w/ a link to a site that had information on bipolar. she read it and then we talked about it and trust me…we arent that close either…lol. now I go to a counselor and it helps a lot. I feel a lot better. hope this helps a little bit… :]

Answer #2

If you aren’t able to talk to your Mom about it, talk to your doctor, your school nurse, or school guidance counselor. But your first choice should be your Mom if possible. Good Luck!!

Answer #3

If you only have most of the depressive symptoms of bi-polar, then you don’t have it. You just have depression. Tell your mum you are depressed and want to see a councilor

I have Bi-polar so I know what I am talking about.
