How to housebreak my dog?
I recently got a puppy, she was 5 months old when I got her and she’ll be a year old in april, and she isnt potty trained.. I have tried anything and everything! But she keeps going around the house! It is such a pain, and not healthy for my family at all. So any tips? thanx =]
I had the same problem with my dog. Nothing seemed to work. HOWEVER, watch her carefully and take her out every 2 hours. Make her stay out til she goes. If its time for you to go somewhere or to go to bed take her out right before and stay out until she does her business. Then crate her until you get back and take her out IMMEDIATELY when you get home. Reward her when she does well and IGNORE her when she potties in the house. She maybe doing this for attention. Above all I commend you for not giving up and if all else fails, she might have a health problem. Take her to the vet to make sure! Good luck!
Have you used a crate, to contain her when you can’t watch her? Vigilence is the number one thing in housetraining…I’ve actually kept a pup tied to me via my belt loop, and a thin nylon rope…They go where I go…
You didn’t say, if this pup was a kennel dog for the first five months of her life (a dog kept outside in a kennel)…these dogs take a longer time and a mountain of patience to “get it”…as they’ve been utilizing their kennel (their nest, home, etc)…for potty. They’ve overcome their natural need to keep it all tidy…

What you should do you should take the dog out at least every two hours. You should create a pattern for the dog. Since the dog is only five months old she will need to use the bathroom door. When you take her outside to pee and she does always tell her good dog. And if you would like when she pees in the house you could put her face by the pee and tell her NO or you could rub her nose in it and tell her no
Well… since you’ve had her for a while now… if you watch her carefully you should be able to know when she is about to go! When you see that she is about to go take her to the door and say outside then let her out and keep her out there until she goes. If that doesn’t work you can always try to train her to go on puppy pads you can set it by the door so she knows thats where she needs to go to go to the bathroom. once she is trained to go on the puppy pads… take the pad away. Then the next time she needs to go she should go to where the puppy pad used to be then you can just let her outside! My puppy had the same problem.
