How do I never think abou tmy ex again?

I was with this girl for about 5 years and it ended badly terrible relathion ship that went on way longer than it should have I dont speak with her anymore and hope I never do again but I cant help but think about her more than id like to why?? How can I get this smut out my brain

Well, don’t be so hard on yourself firstly. Five years is a really long time, and you liked her for a reason, and that reason is probably still there even if you don’t like to admit it. When you spend so much time with someone like that it’s not something you can just wipe out of your conscience. She will always have a place in your head and your heart, whether it’s a scar or a empty place where someone you loved once lived, she’s gonna be there. As time goes by she’ll fade and others will overlap her memory and you’ll think of her less and less, but when you think back, five years of your life will have her name on the pages. She’ll be there in passing. It’s normal, it takes a lifetime to forget someone, especially when things went down baddly. It makes it worse. Just keep your head up and keep moving on. She’ll be gone, but don’t try to force it. You’ll just end up thinking about her more. Hope I helped :)
